The Government today approved a proposal from the Minister of Health, Social Policy and Equality, Leire Pajin, a royal decree approving the technical and health regulations on soft drinks.
This royal decree defines, for legal purposes, what is meant by soft drinks and fixed, mandatory, the legal regulation of such products, forcing all operators involved, located both in the country and in third countries. The objective is the relaxation of current regulations regarding the identification of products that can now be marketed under the name of soft drinks.
This rule regulates certain aspects that, from the standpoint of food security, must comply with the undertakings involved in the production, importation, storage and marketing of soft drinks to bring them into Community law. It also intends to bring this matter to the horizontal legislation, both in terms of additives, such as with regard to the labeling, presentation and advertising of foodstuffs.
This royal decree replaces Decree 15/1992, of 17 January, by approving the technical and health regulations for the production, circulation and sale of soft drinks.
